The Road to the Stanley Cup begins for the Devils

The New Jersey Devils open the Stanley Cup playoffs tonight in Newark as the #2 seed in the Eastern Conference.
They will be up against the #7 seed Philadelphia Flyers. The Devils will be seeking their first cup since 2003, when they defeated the Anaheim Mighty Ducks 4 games to 3 in a best of 7 series.

Only five players from that team remain. Long time Devil Patrik Elias who leads the Devils in most categories all time understands that in hockey teams change frequently.

" It is a long time, and especially in the last couple of years you see a lot of changes that's why when you have a good team you have to take advantage of it.
Long time Devils goalie Martin Brodeur turned 38 this year and this may be his last chance at another Stanley Cup.

Although the Devils will have home ice and are favored to win the series, the match-up will be a difficult one. The Flyers beat the Devils 5 out of 6 times this year.

The Devils are just trying to find a way out of the first round of the playoffs something they have not been able to do the past 2 seasons.

Ring Ceremony in the Bronx welcomes back some old faces

The New York Yankees were all very excited to get their rings, for some of them it was their first, for some it was their fifth but it was special either way.
No one does tradition like the Yankees and this was evident, Yankees legends Yogi Berra and Whitey Ford helped Manager Joe Girardi hand the players their rings.

The crowd went crazy for their favorite Yankees, especially for the Captain Derek Jeter, which is no surprise.
Although he didn't receive the loudest ovation, that honor went to someone not even wearing a Yankees uniform. More specifically former Yankees designated hitter Hideki Matsui. Matsui who is now a member of the Los Angles Angels of Anaheim.

Matsui was greeted warmly from the Yankees fans, and also by his former teammates. Matsui had this to say "I was very deeply moved," Matsui said afterwards. "It's something I will remember forever, that moment."

One teammate in particular decided it would be funny if the Yankees played a little practical joke on Matsui. Derek Jeter exchanged Matsui's World Series ring for a fake one and Matsui had no idea because he didn't look inside the case it came in, later they would give him the real ring.

Many people had a good time in the ceremony, but when the first pitch was thrown it was back to business as usual for the Yankees as their quest for their Major League Leading 28th championship resumed.

Jets acquire troubled but talented receiver from the Steelers

The New York Jets have decided that they are going to take chances this year, and they hope to turn risk into reward.
On Monday night the New York Jets traded for embattled Wide receiver Santonio Holmes.
The Jets traded a fifth round pick to the Pittsburgh Steelers in exchange for the talented, but troubled Super Bowl MVP.

Which is a steal under most circumstances, but Holmes comes with a laundry list of off the field problems. Holmes is currently facing a four game suspension for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy.
There is also an on-going investigation about an incident where Holmes is being accused of throwing a glass at a woman in a club last month.

The Jets have not shied away from bringing in players with questionable past's earlier this month they signed embattled CB Antonio Cromartie and last season they signed another troubled WR Braylon Edwards.

Head Coach Rex Ryan must feel his leadership can keep those things from being a distraction or he wouldn't risk ruining the chemistry that got the Jets to the AFC title game last season.

Rangers playoff hopes are dashed with shootout loss to Flyers
There are no ways to sugarcoat it, the New York Rangers aren't going to the playoffs.
They were eliminated by the Philadelphia Flyers on Sunday.

The game had a playoff feel, it went down to the wire in regulation, then it went to overtime, and then it was decided in an intense shootout.

Just like that it was over, the past 20 days the Rangers had dug their way out from the bottom of the Eastern Conference and had their playoff fate in their own hands.

The Rangers were seven points out of the playoffs with just 10 games to go and fell just one goal short of the playoffs.
Oli Jokinen was stopped by Brian Boucher and the Rangers season stopped at the same time.

The last time the Rangers missed the postseason was the 2003-2004 season.
One thing is for sure the rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist did all he could, he had to face 47 shots on goal and then undergo a grueling shootout.
The rangers have all off-season to sit and wonder if they had one more win what could have been
Jose Reyes is back and ready to go

Welcome back Jose Reyes and not a moment to soon for the struggling New York Mets.
The Mets welcomed back their multi-talented shortstop and lead-off hitter back to their lineup on Saturday.

When Jose Reyes is healthy their is no questioning his talents, he has speed, power, gold glove defensive skills, and is the heartbeat of the Mets lineup. The key word in that sentence is healthy which for the last two seasons has been challenging for Reyes.

Reyes has not played in a Major league game since May 20th of last season.
Translation it's been about a year since Reyes has faced Major League pitchers. So some rust is to be expected from the dynamic young shortstop.

One thing for sure is Reyes is ready to go he arrived at Citi Field way before anyone else on Saturday. "Like 8:20 I was here," he said. "I got up like at 6 at my house watching my watch every 15 minutes. I couldn't wait to get to the ballpark."

Mets fans can rejoice knowing that the heartbeat is back, and their team is almost fully intact the only piece missing is outfielder Carlos Beltran who is due back in mid- June.

Mark Sanchez makes Cameo on Saturday Night Live

Mark Sanchez has adjusted to life in the NFL, being the head Quarterback for the New York Jets isn't always the easiest job in the world.
Sanchez has made the transition from USC to the Jets look very smooth, as he adjust to the big stage that is New York he is faced with many career opportunities.

The Jets have a history of their Quarterbacks getting many unique career opportunities. Mark Sanchez took one step closer to the Superbowl this past season, and now he is taking one step closer to Broadway.

Well not quite, Sanchez this past Saturday was on the iconic show Saturday Night Live, in a cameo for the host (Tina Fey) opening monologue.
Sanchez only had one line, I'm every woman.

His representatives were contacted earlier in the week and Sanchez being a huge SNL fan couldn't pass up the opportunity.
When the show role was over, Mark Sanchez had this to say about the experience:

"I had a great time with the opportunity to appear on SNL and had the chance to meet and work with some of my favorite actors. Thanks to NBC and [producer] Lorne Michaels and staff for the opportunity."
Sanchez and the Jets can now begin to concentrate on getting to another big stage the Super Bowl.

Knicks remain focused on having a productive off-season

The New York Knicks are closing out another dismal 50 loss season tonight in Toronto against the playoff bound Raptors.

It is their last chance to make an impression on star free agent to be Chris Bosh. Bosh will sit out of the game because he suffered a facial fracture last week and is out indefinitely.

The only bright side for the Knicks is this summer where they will able to sign two free agents to max - contracts.

Head Coach Mike Dantoni had this to say about the end of the regular season alot of the things we got accomplished and we’re looking forward to this summer,” Coach Mike D’Antoni told MSG.

“A few things were disappointing obviously and didn’t go as well as we’d love to dream, but we’re pretty well placed to have a good summer and hopefully be better next year.” The Knicks will now play the waiting game until they are able to sign free agents this summer.

CC Sabathia almost No-hits Tampa Bay Rays
There have been 263 official no-hitters in Major League Baseball history. CC Sabathia was 4 outs away from being number 264.
The irony of it all is the man who broke up the no-hitter, none other than Kelly Shoppach. For those of you who don't know Shoppach was Sabathia's personal catcher when the two played together in Cleveland.

Shoppach had this to say about the pivotal hit "I thought it was beautiful," Shoppach added of the single on his friend's final pitch. "Just the history. I thought if anybody was to do it, it was supposed to be me. I know he probably thinks the opposite."

Many Yankees fans were in attendance at Tropicana Field in Tampa Florida cheering on CC. This is no shock because the New York Yankees call Tampa their spring training home.

Sabathia claimed he knew as soon as the ball hit the bat that it was going to drop in for a single. " "As soon as it left the bat, I saw how it was floating out there. I knew it was going to be a hit," said Sabathia, who then acknowledged his buddy.

The Yankees have recorded 10 no hitters in Franchise history they will have to wait a little longer for number 11.

The Consolation Prize

So the New York Jets won't play the first regular season game in their new home, instead that honor will go to the New York Giants.

Noticed how I mentioned regular season game and that's no coincidence, because the Jets will host the first preseason season game in the New Meadowlands Stadium.

Only catch is the Jets will be vs the Giants in the opening preseason game. Many fans aren't happy about this because most starters don't participate in the first preseason game.
The game will be played on a Monday night at 8:00pm and televised on nationally on ESPN. Meanwhile the NFL has yet to release their regular season schedule, league sources say the schedule will be released April 20th.
So Far... SO Good

The New York Yankees began their defense of their World series title last Sunday against their arch rivals the Boston Red Sox.

The Yankees are in pursuit of their 28Th world Championship, which is the most in all of professional sports. Manager Joe Girardi believes that the key to a successful season this year is for the Yankees to get off to a good start, which hasn't been the case in recent years.

The Yankees have started poorly in each of the last six seasons. In fact Before this season the Yankees had won their season opening series twice in the last six years. Also they have only won their opening series with Boston once in the past six years.

Last season was the ultimate low when the Yankees started off 0-8 against their Division Rivals. Some critics believe it's not how you start it's how you finish and the Yankees finished as champs Manager Joe Girardi encouraged by the good start and hopes it will continue because it's a long season.

Sidney Crosby ends Vancouver Olympics In Style
If there is such a thing as such a thing as fairy tales or a storybook ending it was written and shall be told for many years to come on Sunday afternoon in British Columbia. The gold medal match that was suppose to be the most anticipated Olympic event of the entire Olympic Games did not disappoint. The United States which had never trailed in the entire tournament suddenly found themselves down 2-0 half way through the second period.

Then the game became interesting after a shot by Patrick Kane, deflected off of Ryan Kessler stick and trickled pass a shakey Roberto Luongo. This made it to 2-1 and it remained that very score until there was less than 30 seconds to go in regulation. USA pulled their star goalie Ryan Miller, so they could have an extra attacker on the ice. Patrick Kane shot a wrist er towards Canadian goalie Luongo and Zack Parise swatted the rebound pass Luongo for the game tying goal with just 24.4 seconds remaining.

All the air in the building at Canada Place was let out of the building, as Canada was less than 25 seconds away from winning the gold, and let it slip away and was now facing a 4-4 sudden death overtime period to decide their fate. All the momentum was with the US heading into overtime, but from the moment the puck dropped in the OT period it was clear Canada would not be denied. Crosby worked the puck in the corner and passed it very casually to Jerome Iginla and raced towards the net pass US defense man Bryan Rafalski and took Iginla's pass and shot the puck between Miller's legs and all was right in Vancouver on that day. Crosby threw his arms in the air and was mobbed by his Canadian teammates.

The golden boy had scored the golden goal and team Canada could breathe a sigh of relief because they had did what they were expected to do come and win the gold, and who better to take them home then the 22 year old golden boy Sid the Kid Crosby

New York Jets to cut ties with Jones this week
The New York Jets will not adhere to the old saying if it's not broke don't fix it. The New York Jets lead the NFL with their formidable rushing attack in the 2009-2010 season. Thomas Jones played a huge role in that attack. The Jet's brass thanked Thomas Jones for his three years of service and commended him on being a hardworking professional.

The biggest reason for this move is because of age Thomas is 31 years old which is considered old for an NFL running back. It didn't help matters that Jones was due a $3million dollar roster bonus in addition to his $2.8 million dollar salary this coming season. Combine these two factors with the emergence of rookie running back Shonn Greene, and it became a question of no if but when this move would take place. The Jets will count on Greene being the starter out of the backfield, in addition to the return of the dynamic Leon Washington who is recovering from a broken leg he suffered last season.

Thomas Jones was also a locker room favorite, he was twice awarded team's most inspirational player. The Jets made this move because they wanted to get younger, but will it hurt or help the growth of rookie QB Mark Sanchez, and come 4th quarter
will head coach Rex Ryan being willing to put the game in the hands of Greene, the way he had done so many times before with Thomas Jones, time will only tell.
US goalie Ryan Miller Back in the US but not back on the Ice
Ryan Miller was back from his heroic performance in the Vancouver games which left the US one goal short of a gold medal against the host country of Canada. Although he was back in his customary #30 buffalo sabres jersey he and his head coach Lindy Ruff agreed it was best to rest him for the night.

Therefore the much anticipated rematch between him and Sidney Crosby would not be a reality. Crosby of course the toast of the town in his native Canada after scoring a golden goal against Miller and the US to end the Olympics. As the lineups were being introduced before the start of the game between the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Buffalo Sabres Crosby and Miller were introduced.

Normally it wouldn't be a big deal which of the two got the bigger standing ovation from the crowd. Both player are immensely popular where ever they go. Something surprising occurred, when Miller received a louder standing ovation in the opposing team's building, then Crosby received in his home building in Pittsburgh. This proves one thing that when professional athletes are faced with defending their pride of their native countries the stakes are that much higher not only for the players, but most especially for the fans.
TO 1 and Done in BUFFALO
The Terrell Owens Era in Buffalo is over after the Bills released a statement this week saying that they would not be offering Owens a contract proposal for the coming season. Terrell Owens responded on his own twitter page by thanking all the Buffalo Bills fans and ownership for their support throughout the year.

Owens who is now 36 years old finishes his short time in Buffalo and is still looking for a Superbowl ring. Owens made 6.5 million this year with Buffalo, is expected to have to take a significant pay cut wherever he may land next. Although Owens may have lost a step he is still a legitimate receiver in this league as he lead the Bills last year with 55 catches for 829 yards and 5 Touchdowns.

Owens can still be a threat in this league even with Buffalo's inconsistent offense and at the QB position in particular Owens averaged 15.1 yards per catch which is very respectable. So every team with the exception of Buffalo, Philadelphia, Dallas, and San Francisco get ready because TO could be on your radar this off season so as TO would say "Get your Popcorn Ready"
Ryan Callahan a budding star in the NHL and part of Team USA
A long time before Ryan Callahan took the ice at Madison Square Garden for the New York Rangers or even before his Junior Hockey days in Canada Ryan Callahan held a great passion for the game.
Ryan Callahan played as a youth in street hockey games in his hometown of Rochester NY . He says that the cul-de-sac at the end of Groveview Circle in Northern Greece(Rochester)was where his career was born.

Callahan at the age of 24 is about to participate in his biggest challenge the Olympic games. Callahan says it is an honor and a privilege to play for team USA. Ryan's dad said so many people have been involved in Ryan's success including his pee-wee coaches.

"If it wasn't for Graham Low the owner of Locker Room Sports used to let the Callahan's to pay a tab for all of Ryan and his brother's hockey equipment. Mike Callahan says that all members of the community are responsible for his son's success. Many people will be watching Ryan as he and the rest of team USA will travel to Vancouver to compete in the Olympic games. http://www.democratandchronicle.com/article/20100214/SPORTS/2140350/Greece%5C-s-Ryan-Callahan-rises-from-youth-hockey-to-Team-USA

The New Jersey Nets Beat the Boston Celtics this is not a Typo
That's right this is a true story this is not April fools. This is the same team that once lost 18 straight games. This is the same team that has 6 wins this whole entire season which is 3/4 over.

This is the same team that is on pace to break the 1972-1973 Philadelphia 76ER's 9-73 record which is the worst in NBA history. OF course these are the 2009-2010 New Jersey Nets and if their is news, there is usually bad news and this story is no different. Courtney Lee left with a severely sprained left ankle and is day-to- day.

The only silver lining to this season for the Nets is that they will have the most ping pong balls in the NBA Draft Lottery, because they are assured the worst record in the NBA. This will dramatically increase their chances of Drafting Kentucky's John Wall with the first pick in the draft. Nets fans can only hope and pray for 4 more wins so they can break past the stigma of being known as the worst team in league history.

Giant Task begins for Tom Coughlin and New Defensive Coordinator Perry Fewell
As Tom Coughlin prepares for his 7th Season as head coach of the New York Giants he knows he is in for his toughest season so far. After a dismal 2009 campaign in which the Giants missed the playoffs, Coughlin looked to his past for a solution.

Perry Fewell served five seasons under Coughlin while the two were in Jacksonville together. After Coughlin moved on to the Giants, Fewell moved on to become the defensive coordinator for the Buffalo Bills, a position he held for 4 seasons. Although Fewell is thrilled to be working with Coughlin again, he is responsibility is a great one.

Fewell has to retool a Defense that allowed 427 points last season. That was the second highest total in franchise history. Certainly the return of healthy Kenny Phillips who should return as starting Safety, after recovering from his knee surgery. Coughlin knows one thing for sure they may be some new faces, but the Giants will only be successful if each individual does what's best for the entire team.

A-rod says Monkey off his back after winning World Series, but Yankees Need their Captain.
A-rod has a history of not being exactly candid with the media, whether it be steroid usage, or his personal life or his strained relationship with his teammates.

This week he was extremely candid about this topic. The question asked was how do you think Captain Derek Jeter's impending free agency will impact the Yankees this season. A-rod gave a short concise statement saying that Derek Jeter was born to wear the pinstripes, and that the Yankees need Derek Jeter, and that he could never envision Derek Jeter wearing another team's uniform.

A-rod also said he was very relieved when " a gorilla was lifted off his back". This is referring to A-rod coming through in the clutch and winning his World Series. A-rod acknowledges that it will be a refreshing change of pace this season because he can focus on baseball and only baseball.

He says he wants to have a good time playing the game he loves to play. New York Yankees team doctors have good news for their fans as A-rod will be fully recovered from last year's hip surgery on opening day, and will not require further surgery as first reported.

Deadline Deal brings New York Knicks under the Salary Cap and to the Forefront of the Summer of Lebron James

The New York Knicks have undergone a major transformation during these past two years. While some critics will claim that it is unprofessional to give up on two whole seasons and mortgaging their teams future, but the Knicks argue that they have done a great deal to stay competitive during this rebuilding and restructuring process.

After the deadline passed Knicks president Donnie Walsh had acquired a Seven- time all Star in Tracy Mcgrady, and also cleared enough space to reach their goals for the summer of 2010. The NY Knicks goals, for the past two seasons has been to get under the salary cap in order to have the opportunity to sign two max-contract players.

The free agent class this summer include: Lebron James, Dwayne Wade, Carlos Boozer, Amare Stoudemire, Chris Bosh, and Joe Johnson. The Knicks and their fans have been given hope and been told to stay patient until July 1st 2010. http://http://web.sny.tv/news/article.jsp?ymd=20100219&content_id=8096236&oid=36320&vkey=18

Sanchize needs Surgery

Jets fans are holding their breath, QB Sanchez needs Surgery on Left Knee
Millions of New York Jets fans held their breath on that faithful night in Toronto when Mark Sanchez hurt his right knee and was knocked out of a pivotal game on the NFL Network.

He would miss the rest of that game, and the following game. This caused much concern among the media and Jets nation as a whole. Sanchez did start to improve his play towards the end of the regular season and into the playoffs. One reason for this was his improved mobility, which seem to indicate that the pain in his right knee would not require off season knee surgery.

Well that seem to keep Jet Nation calm for a little while, until the announcement came. a couple days after the Jets were defeated in the AFC title game, and consequently their season ended. The announcement by Jets team Doctors was that Sanchez was having pain in both knees and that he would need to have both knees evaluated.

Let the Panic in Jet Nation begin after seeing renown Sports Surgeon Dr James Andrews, it was discovered that the problem was stemming from and older injury in Sanchez's right knee which he obtained while playing in his junior year at USC. Sanchez injured the knee initially during practice in his junior season, which caused to wear a brace on his knee ever since.
He re -aggravated the knee injury against the Carolina Panthers on November 29th. Sanchez right knee won't need any procedures, he will heal by rehabilitation.

The bad news is he will miss time for his first off season, mainly OT A's and Mini Camp. According to www.yahoosports.com Sanchez said " The goal is to get back in time for training camp and to be completely ready leading up to the Preseason. So Jets fans exhale and realize everything could be alot worse go J-E-T-S!

Miami misses out on chance to hit the Jack pot on Super Bowl

Miami Dolphins Fan's Root For the New York Jets Crazy? Maybe, Maybe Not
Sun Life Stadium in beautiful Miami Florida will be the sight of Superbowl XLIV where the New Orleans Saints will take on the Indianapolis Colts for the right to hoist the Lombardi trophy. When the ball is kicked off on Sunday afternoon South Florida will have made about 155 million dollars off of everything leading up to the game. This is not a small amount of money and

Floridians should be happy that the Superbowl is once again in their own backyard.
Although this may be true, it does not disguise that fact that the impact will not be as great as it was the last time the Superbowl was held in Miami in 2007 when the Indianapolis Colts were playing the Chicago Bears.

Now I know most of you are going to attribute this to the economy and how much the economic landscape has changed over the past few years. I agree with this view but pose a different reason why the impact isn't as great as it was in 2007. I believe that if the New York Jets would of made the Superbowl it would of been a greater impact to South Florida then the Indianapolis Colts.

I know what you are thinking Peyton Manning he is the biggest draw in the NFL, this is also true but Peyton and most logical fans know that the events leading up to the actual game are if not as important maybe more important than the game. Many Miami fans don't like New Yorkers and that's fair, we don't like Miami fans also. This is a fact, but we would of been in South FL for a week eating in your restaurants, shopping in your stores, going to your nightclubs and spending way more money than someone from the Midwest Such as Indianapolis, who is more inclined to just come for the game.

I also believe that there is no Underdog aspect to this Superbowl people love the story of the underdog. The New Orleans Saints are the feel good story of the year, after everything that happen with hurricane Katrina. The Jets would of been the underdog seeing as they needed everything to fall into place just to qualify for the playoffs. Then beat two division champions and had the Big Bad Colts on the ropes for the first half of the AFC title game.

The Jets would of been both the underdog and the villain, for trying to invade the Hated Dolphins home stadium and try to win their first Superbowl since the last time Joe Namath won after his famous guarantee. Ironically enough the Jets defeated the Colts in Miami FL to win their only Superbowl in franchise history. So as we sit down to watch the game with family and friends on Sunday remember that the Superbowl is important, but so is the week and events leading up to the actual game.

This year the Superbowl will hold significant amount of impact for Miami Dolphins fans, because according to the http://www.miamiherald.com/ the Dolphins are trying to get a proposal to use tax dollars to fund stadium improvements which could cost around $200 million dollars. Without these improvements it could be difficult to compete for future Super Bowls in Miami.

Jailhouse Vow From Plaxico, I will play Again

Bill Cowher's Candid Interview with PLaxico Burress Who Vows to Play Once Again in the NFL.

Plaxico Burress had it all a Super Bowl ring, after a great Touchdown to seal the win over the previously undefeated New England Patriots. He also received a brand new fat contract from the New York Giants. It was just 2 years ago today in Super Bowl XLII when Plaxico and the rest of the Giants stunned the world.

On November 29, 2008 Plaxico and fellow teammate Antonio Pierce visited a Night Club, not knowing that would change the direction of Plaxico's career and ultimately his life drastically. Burress carried a unlicensed .40 Caliber Glock pistol in his pants, which he claims was strictly for his protection. A few hours later he fumbled the gun and the gun discharged shooting him in the leg, which in turn ended his career with the New York Giants, and possibly ending his NFL career for good.

According to the http://www.nypost.com/ Burress sat down with an interview with CBS broadcaster Bill Cowher who is also a former coach of Burress to discuss whether or not Burress was staying in shape, and after a 2 year prison sentence would he be able to play in the NFL once again. Burress claims he is in shape, and vows to play again.

So I ask you sports fans does he deserve a second chance if he's in the right shape and still possesses the skills that made him a top WR in the NFL. I think we are a society who loves to give second chance and somebody will take a chance? It may have to be the Oakland Raiders, hey doesn't he already have a gun all he needs is an eye patch.

The Untouchable

Glen Sather is the Rangers Worst Nightmare and Has Been For the Last 10 Years

The Untouchables in sports are usually someone that had done something so great in their past that no matter what their current state is they are believed to get a free pass. I ask you New York Rangers fans what has Glen Sather ever done for our beloved Rangers.

Sather took over at the start of the 2000 season as Team President, it's 2010 people that's a decade of losing by this man who continues to make bad trades, and bad free agent signings.According to http://www.prinsider.com/ all the Rangers have to show for it as a few early playoff exits. Not to mention a host of expensive broken down players and a carousel of coaches. A wise man once said that "If I had the Rangers Payroll I would never lose" that man was current New York Rangers team president Glen Sather.

So I ask you why does this guy still have a job? When there are constant top 10 list's of the worst moves Sather has made all over the Internet, and one of the familiar chants at MSG has Become Fire Sather, why won't the Rangers listen to their fans chants. The Rangers fans need a new chant it should go something like this Untouchable!!!

Hello it's about that time again for another post and this one is going to be epic. I am currently and have been for about 20 years a loyal, die hard, suffering New York Knicks fan. Not since 1999 have the Knicks gone deep in the playoffs. Those were the days of Jeff Van Gundy, and Latrell Sprewell and the name that haunts every New York Knicks fan, Allan Houston. The Knicks haven't even reached the playoffs since the 1999-2000 season.

Then the steep decline began from 2000-2004 the Knicks were pathetic. That was all supposed to change in the beginning of the 2003-2004 which marks the arrival of the two men who were supposed to resurrect basketball in Madison Square Garden. The arrival of Isiah Thomas, as team president of the Knicks, and local Coney Island product Stephon Marbury. The fact that it is 2010 and the knicks haven't made the playoffs since 1999 should tell you all you need to know about that duo.

Which brings us Knicks fans to the moment we have been waiting for about 5 years now, the summer of 2010 is almost upon us. This summer will boast one of the best free agent classes in the history of the NBA which will include: Lebron James, Dwayne Wade, Chris Bosh, Amare Stoudemire and Joe Johnson among others. There has been one name the Knicks brass and their fans have been obsessed with and that is Lebron James. King James has been deemed the #1 target to come to NY and save this once proud franchise. Lebron will need to be persuaded to leave his comfortable confines of his Cleveland home, for the bright lights of New York city.

The right people need to advise Lebron in his decision, Isiah Thomas is not one of those people. Isiah told WFAN in New York on Tuesday that he would tell Lebron to come to NY and would very happy if that happened. Now this probably will have no effect on Lebron's decision, but do we really want the man who coached a team called Team titanic I being at the forefront of our marketing plan. I think I speak for every Knicks fan and say this to Lebron Don't Judge us by our Past Look forward to a bright future filled with sell-outs every night in the most famous Arena in the world and the opportunity to bring the Knicks back to greatness.

New Jets/Giants Stadium is a Palace that Will Cost the City of New York a King's Ransom.
Hello This is my first blog of many to come and today I will be discussing the New York Jets and the arrival of their new stadium. Let me start off by saying how great it was to see the Jets make it to the AFC title game. With a young Defense, a rookie coach who doesn't back down from anyone, and a possible franchise Quarterback the future has not looked this bright for Gang Green in a very long time.

Which brings me to the upcoming season, more specifically where the Jets will call their new home. From looks of the new stadium, no expense was spared and it looks like a palace. Although I am hear to tell you that looks can be deceiving. According to http://www.gothamgazette.com/ this new stadium could present many financial problems for the city of New York.

In November a report was filed by the governor's office claiming that the cost of the new stadium will generate costs of $300 million. There also can be the possibility of interest on top of that figure, which would double the cost.
Not to mention the New York will lose two major streets, in order to provide entrances to the new stadium. Those streets are West 3oth and West 33rd on 11th and 12th Avenues, there are many stores on these streets that are being forced to close.

So I ask you when you are settling into your luxury box next year Jets fans will it be worth all the money and sacrifice or will you even think about it, or when the ball is kicked off for that first game will you just say Forget About It!!
